Who is this site for?

Are you someone who dreams to travel but just can’t seem to find the time? Or do you think traveling is out of your budget? Or maybe you feel you are too far invested in your career to take a break to travel? Or maybe you too are planning a trip but just don’t know where to start? Or maybe you want to vicariously live through others?  If you slightly nodded  yes to any of these questions we encourage you to hang around!

Similar to many, we also had doubts about taking a year off to travel. But once we made the decision, there was no going back. It’s the best gift you can give yourself. Setting out on a journey of ambiguity is the greatest gift of learning.  Taking a pause from our careers to live in the present moment and explore the world from a new perspective.

 Some of you might think, no not me – I cant leave my full-time job and home! We had those thoughts too! It takes a little bit of planning and a lot of courage but its definitely doable!

Join us on our journey of exploration, as we learn the ropes of traveling on a budget, earning whenever possible and visiting destinations we only dreamed of.

Why should you read our blog?

Our mission is two fold, not only do we want to share that traveling is possible for just about anyone for an entire year, but we also want to share our growth of learning through this process. Initially we wanted to focus on traveling as locals and find local eateries however we quickly realized that this was almost an impossible task to accomplish. For example, many of the restaurants that locals would eat at, our stomach would simply not agree with. We learnt this the hard way. 

 Join us as we figure out the ropes of blogging, traveling and making the most of a lifetime experience!

How did we start?

Nis :  I have always loved traveling but could never get away for more than a month at a time. I have been working and studying since I was 14 so the idea of taking an entire year to travel seemed impossible to accomplish. As I made my way through grad school two years ago, something awakened inside me. I realized that life is about living in the present moment and if my heart desired something I better go after it. Along the way, I continued to get clear messages from the universe telling me that my gut instinct was right. I didn’t know how or what, all I knew is I wanted to do it. I am a firm believer that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!  I am lucky to have my best friend and partner be a part of this lifetime experience. When the stars align everything just works!

                                                    Getting to know us

David:

I grew up on a farm in rural Quebec. Given my passion for food, I trained as a Chef which enabled me to work in Canada, Bahamas and Europe. I have driven out West twice loved every minute of it. I backpacked across Europe and worked in England for a year. A foodie at heart, I take pleasure in traveling and learning from the locals. Being a Chef in different cultural settings has taught me some valuable lessons not only in the kitchen but also in culture. A few awesome years went by, my goals got bigger and I decided to move to Montreal to pursue my undergraduate degree. Now, here I am pursuing this amazing journey with the amazing woman of my dreams! 

Nis: 

My formative years were spent in Mumbai, India before my family migrated to Canada. For me home will always be Montreal as I have spent most of my life living here. Mumbai however will always have a special place in my heart. I’m a proud Indo-Canadian-French Quebecois! My dream is to live as my most authentic self and serve as an inspiration to others. For me, traveling is so much more than adventure and exploration. It’s a form of education and lifelong learning.  I hope you will join us on this journey! 🙂
