New Zealand here we come

O…M…G… We are just under a month before David and I leave for New Zealand and we are beyond excited. We recently got back from our road trip from USA and what I will say is I am glad we did it together! Why? Because it gave us an opportunity to learn about each other in a different context. Being enclosed in a small space while driving for long hours can be a true test for any relationship and I am happy to announce we survived! Did we argue? Yes, tons but we always walked away being able to see each other’s perspective. For more on our USA trip, click here.

There is a lot of planning going on to ensure this trip goes as smoothly as possible. One very important task that needs to be accomplished is purchasing our flight ticket and I am happy to announce we just bought them a week ago! Yay! Yes, friends it is happening! We timed it just about perfectly, 45 days before our departure. After much research, getting the best price for a flight ticket appears to be in the 45 day prior window. After spending numerous Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (Best time to purchase a ticket) on three four different computers we finally found a pretty awesome deal.

1593$ for a return ticket from Montreal to Auckland! Can I get a woop woop? Our first leg is 29  hours starting in Montreal on July 6th to Los Angeles then Sydney and then finally arriving in Auckland. I know, but what can we do, Auckland is freaking far! We intend on exploring the South Islands as the winter we hear is more stable in the South. More to come on that..

So now what? Well, with the ticket bought, it’s time to pack like a champ! Given we will be travelling nomads for 10 months, packing light is going to be essential. For that I have a  60L backpack made by Lowe Alpine that I am hoping will be sufficient. What do you think? Knowing me, it wont, but I am going to have to make it work. So stay tuned..as I continue to update y’all as we get closer to our departure date!! For now, if you have any tips or suggestions on what or how I should pack, leave a comment below! 🙂
